Abstract
With the proliferation of smart mobile devices and Internet of Things, as well as the emergence of innovative mobile applications, tremendous pressures have been put on mobile computing. Mobile edge computing (MEC) is a recently proposed platform to meet such challenges, and has attracted significant attentions from both the industry and academia. By deploying computer servers at the network edge, MEC can effectively provide low-latency computation services for mobile devices. Built upon the MEC platform, also assisted by the recent advancements in AI, a new area emerges, namely edge AI or edge learning. Edge AI effectively leverages the enormous data generated by billions of mobile devices to train machine learning models, which enable intelligent mobile applications. This talk will present the recent trend from MEC to edge AI, and introduce new design methodologies. Potential research directions will also be identified.
